Semnal is a web accessibility checking tool, built for site owners and agencies in the European Union who need to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard required by the European Accessibility Act (EAA), in force since June 2025.
We automatically scan a site and show, clearly and concretely, what real accessibility issues exist — not just an abstract score, but exact code examples and explanations of how they affect people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies.
My name is Ion, and I build Semnal on my own, from Porto Viro, Italy. I started this project because I saw how hard it is for a small or medium business to understand what "compliance" with accessibility law actually means — most don't have a technical department to handle it, and dense compliance reports don't help anyone actually fix anything.
I write every line of code myself, test the tool on real sites, and personally read every email you send me — there's no support team behind this, just me. If something isn't working the way it should, or you have an idea to make Semnal better, write to me — I'll use it.
We use axe-core, the open-source library also used by Chrome DevTools and Google Lighthouse, as the scanning engine. It's free, transparent, and verifiable by anyone.
